Neroli, the fragrance of a Princess

Updated: Apr 13, 2024

Neroli (Italian bitter orange blossom) is one of my favourite essential oils. It smells divine and is blessed with so many magical healing properties - making it an ‘essential’ oil in any skincare range. Feminine, heady, exotic and sensual, yet clean and floral, it is wonderful to use in love potions to evoke and attune the heart Chakra.

Rich in Vitamin C, Neroli penetrates the cellular levels of the skin, hydrating and nourishing to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, inflammation, redness and dryness by supporting the natural healing process of your body.

This ancient essential oil was most famously used, and named, by Anna Maria de la Temoille, who was the Princess of Nerola in Italy during the 17th century. However, it dates much further back to the Roman Empire and Ancient Egypt. Throughout history, Neroli has been revered for its skin nourishing properties and unique scent, as a statement of opulence and luxury.

Neroli was the core ingredient that I knew had to be in my first skincare experiment about 7 years ago when my Psoriasis was at its worst. I just had to work out what the other ingredients would be. After researching aromatherapy and the healing properties of oils, I then meditated for inspiration.

The first trial of MAIA blended Neroli, Geranium, Frankincense and Lime, I wrote down the quantity and gave it a go. I immediately loved the scent and found very quickly that my symptoms were improving. The flakiness was less flaky, it felt less angry and my skin overall felt softer, cleaner and more healthy.

After using consistently for a month, my symptoms had almost gone. Today I don’t suffer from Psorasis at all. This is thanks to MAIA cream, but I also have drastically changed my diet, lifestyle and thought processes in the last 10 years which has led to me becoming free of dis-ease (so far so good). I do not use any products that have harmful chemicals in them and I drink filtered water. So if you are looking to heal any localised dis-ease/skin complaints then I’m sure my skincare will help, as it has helped many others too. But please also reflect on everything else you put in and on your body, and your mind too.

Neroil is a fragrance of the divine feminine. So when you inhale the scent, remember who you really are, a sovereign, divine being worthy of the finest riches of our beautiful planet.
